Fun Field Trip idea
Hi, my name is Andrea. I am the lab manager for Dr Julia L Evans here at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is the Primary Investigator of a large-scale NIH funded project examining the role that memory, attention, and speed of processing has on children's sentence comprehension abilities in both typically developing children and children with language learning disabilities. I wanted to spread the word about our new research project.
The study is called PALM Pediatric Attention Language and Memory) project. This project is a large NIH funded multi-site research study and we are looking at how attention and memory influence language comprehension in children between the ages of 7-11. Participation involves three visits to our lab at Callier Center Dallas that are around 2 hours each. Your child will be working 1-on-1 with our researcher and will be asked to complete a series of different computer tasks and standardized assessment measures which are designed to assess speaking , listening, memory, and attention skills to learn how these impact children's language abilities.
This could be an enriching experience for your families. Where children could participate in a real live science experiment. The information collected could help us further our knowledge in how children process language. To be clear, we're not interested in names of specific children. We maintain strict HIPPA compliance in the lab. We are interested only in getting the word out to families so that they can contact us if they are interested in hearing more about the study.
For participating the students will get $25.00 per visit and results of the study (per request), and complimentary parking at Callier Center in Dallas. If you have any questions feel free to email us (palm@utdallas.edu)
